Leadership and Experience

Law Enforcement Career:

Levi was hired by the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office in 2014 as a patrol deputy and was a quick study in all things related to law enforcement. Soon after, he was recommended by his peers and the Field Training staff to begin training new deputies as a Field Training Officer. Levi has trained, or supervised, well over half of the current patrol deputies’ 14 week Field Training Program within the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office. In 2015, Levi was selected and recognized in the Sheridan Press’ first ever “20 Under 40” honoring individuals who make a difference within the community. Levi took on a regular guest instructor role at the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy in 2016 and has since taught over 500 Wyoming Peace Officers across the state.

In 2019, Levi was promoted to Patrol Lieutenant and Undersheriff after undergoing an arduous testing and evaluation process spanning several months. He is often found researching new ways to provide community outreach and seeks those opportunities to connect the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office with those the office serves. You may have seen some of those outreach events throughout the county like “Donuts with Deputies” and “Chips, Dips, and Deputies” to name a few!

Throughout his tenure with the sheriff’s office and undersheriff, Levi has built and maintained partnerships at the local, state, and federal level to better serve Sheridan County’s law enforcement needs. Levi understands in order for the sheriff’s office and its staff to be successful, one must be a Servant Leader. To Levi, that means someone who supports staff to accomplish a specific goal while providing them with everything necessary to be successful.

Levi understands and recognizes there will always be room to improve. He works hard every day to be approachable and makes himself available to the sheriff’s office staff, and public, in order to hear and implement new ideas to better serve the community.

Pre-Law Enforcement:

In 2005, Levi graduated from Tongue River High School and continued his education in Montana where he graduated from Montana State University-Billings (AAS) in 2007. Levi returned home to continue his service to Sheridan County working as a Paramedic, Firefighter, and ultimately a Deputy Sheriff with the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office.

His love and passion to pass on his knowledge was apparent within the community. During his time at Sheridan Fire-Rescue, he was a regular instructor for Sheridan College’s EMT-Basic class. Levi was influential in developing a relationship between Sheridan Memorial Hospital, Sheridan College, and county emergency services for the purpose of utilizing healthcare instructors and emergency services personnel to teach various public safety and healthcare classes throughout the community. Levi, along with other hospital and college instructors, taught many different advanced life support classes to healthcare students, physicians, nurses, healthcare providers, and other first responders.

In 2012, Levi was elected to serve as a Sheridan City Councilor. He served his ward with great pride and was always available to listen and learn so the Sheridan community could grow in a way that was beneficial for everyone. While on city council, Levi served on various boards including the Sheridan County Juvenile Justice board and was a 2013 graduate of the Sheridan CIVIC Project Leadership Program.

Levi’s diverse experience in leadership spans from his early school years to his current position as Sheridan County Undersheriff. While in school, Levi was a student athlete, member of student council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and a member of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA).  As a junior in high school, Levi was selected to serve as the Public Relations Officer for Wyoming’s FCCLA state chapter and the following year he was selected to serve as the Vice President.
